Joseph Kony

This is one blog post I want you all to read and I will have a link to it in all my other blog posts because it is one of the most important and best ways to spread this message worldwide.


Joseph Kony is the worlds most wanted war criminals who has been reigning terror for 26 years and is currently living in Uganda. He is the leader of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and is one of the most brutal dictators. He has spent the past twenty six years adding to his rebel group (LRA) but through the most brutal means. He abducts children from their homes, while their sleeping which leaves them in constant fear.  He turns the young girls into sex slaves and the boys into child soldiers. By providing them with arms he forces them to mutilate people's faces and kill their own parents. Over the twenty six years roughly 30,000 children have been forced into this rebel group and now it's time to end this. 


A video has been created by the campaign group Invisible Children, as well as filmaker Jason Russell to "make Kony famous". The goals is not to praise Kony but to make everyone, worldwide aware of what he does and his brutality.

This is also a link to the Invisible Children website which is the campaign group set up to free all the 'invisible' children that nobody knows about & to make them 'visible' to the rest of the world.


It is up to us to spread the message, because although the US are helping the cause at the moment if they feel as though we, the people of the world, do not want to see a change they will deport the army back to the US and stop aiding the search for Kony.

This blog has just been about raising awareness to the rest of you and I hope that it has done just that!

Technological

I found this so exciting I decided to blog about it! I just downloaded the app for iPod touch for blogging! Extremely exciting ! That now means because I've been terrible with blogging lately I can now blog much more often :D twitter has also become another 'past time' of mine, I set up my account two years ago but never used it but after the wonderful day with The Original Rude Boys (which I still have to blog about!) I have become totally addicted to twitter

Anyway this was just a very quick update I'll blog later talk soon xo

I just wanted to blog about our wonderful day today at the Phoenix Park, running in Cross Country. There was roughly twenty girls from St. Wolstan's from 1st to 5th Year went to the race. The races are divided into four different categories: Junior, Minor, Intermediate and Senior. The length of the races ranged from 1000 - 2500 metres. They were all tough, especially with the weather! Which wasn't in our favour today! The wind was extremely strong for most of the race until we got to turn and it almost pushed us to the finish line! Our school's Senior team came 2nd overall and I THINK (?) that our school came 4th!


Mr. L treated us to a yummy McDonanlds on the way home, which probably ruined all the running we had done, but it finished off the day on a great note!


Can't wait for the next race now :D I'll try upload some pictures of the race!

Back with a Bang!

It's crazy to think now of all that we've done in 2012 already and we're only back at school two weeks! Honestly, could TY get any better? But to begin the first week back, twelve TYs were off on Wednesday into the RDS in Dublin for The BT Young Scientist Competitions! This has to be one of the best weeks and experiences of TY! I was working in a group with Niamh Egan and Elaina Duggan and we were so lucky to have been accepted into the competitions in the first place with our iPhone App. The name of our project was "The Surfboard Solver App". It is an App to help beginner surfers in choosing their first surfboard. I don't want to bore you with the entire details of the App, so comment below if you want any more information J It was defiantly an action packed week to say the least! There were schools from all over the country there and we got to make new friends (which has become basic part of TY by now!!) We were in from Wednesday until Saturday and each group had their own stand and displayed their projects. There was everything going on from discos to table quizzes! Non-stop fun, honestly! I would defiantly recommend it to anyone & I am certainly going to be doing it next year! Already started to plan my idea, so anyone thinking of doing it next year.. START THINKING OF YOUR IDEA NOW! There was also a lot of special guests, take a look at the pics below

We also went to a creative writing class, last Monday (Eriú only!) the 16th, in a place just opposite Croke Park called Fighting Words. We made up our own little story and then chose our own endings, individually. Seriously there's so much involved in TY it's crazy but I love it!

If you didn't get that title they're the lyrics from the song ET by Katy Perry and Kanye West ;) And why I hear you asking am I putting lyrics from the most random song up there, well on Friday (the day of my Birthday Partaaaay!) all the TYs met together in the hall for the Home Ec fashion show, it was such a great show! I couldn't get over how great the outfits were! And well done to everyone who got a prize, Meg here did brilliantly and came first in her class, or should I say Rawwry ;) Just want to say thanks to all the Home Ec teachers involved in it, it really was so much fun!

Woow, today I just totally got the "Christmasy" feel going on! Well, actually Saturday night (my Birthday!) opening all my presents it really felt like Christmas, just as if Santy had come! But it got me in the mood to listen to some all time classic Christmas tunes:

Exam jitters..

Okay technically, because I'm a Transisiton Year and they're only Christmas exams I shouldn't be nervous, but because I'm syill up at 12 O'clock the night before, blogging means something! I'm a little bit nervous just because exams seem so foreign to us now! Even though we just did them in June..

But anyway, tomorrow I am faced with French, Religion and then English.. short day and hopefully not too tough! Just though a nice blog would be good just before I head off for a rest, good luck to the rest of you girls tomorrow! :)
